A story that is handed down from generation to generation is that of the cat Francesco. Reality and legend intertwine, to give life to this extraordinary figure.

We do not know if it is a mere invention or if this rather particular figure really existed, but we still want to tell you the story.

Set in Canterbury, an English city known for its pilgrimages during the Middle Ages and for the writings of the writer Geoffrey Chaucer, the story begins with abandonment! in fact the cat Francesco was abandoned from the cat mother, when she was about two weeks old.

Without having a place to go, it was found wandering and led into the cattery of the city. Soon everyone realized that she was a very special kitten, ready to help the weakest.

Still inside the cattery, he was distinguished by a gesture truly noteworthy; a little bird named Angelo, while he was flying in the blue sky, it is not known how, fell into the void and Francesco, realizing the imminent danger, positioned himself in the bird's trajectory and saved, cushioning the fall with his body.

Unfortunately Francesco broke two legs, but he still managed to save the poor little bird.

For this heroic gesture, he was awarded the title of Knight, but, unfortunately, due to a long convalescence, was forgotten from other cats.

Francis, who was of a good and kind soul, did not despair and tried in every way to "implement" reforms, capable of improve the life of the inhabitants of the shelter.

First he obtained the consent to provide all black cats with one increased milk ration and a personal litter box for each individual cat.

Then he organized one cat parade, which was also attended by mice, birds and dogs. With this parade, Francesco wanted to demonstrate that even if the animal world is made up of different species, they could still get along well and support each other!

But, unfortunately, Francis never saw the fruits of his work, because on that very day, was hit to death by a crow, hired by all those who were in favor of animal exploitation.

The poor cat was buried under a pomegranate tree and many were the cats who went to him to pay him homage.

Many argue that when a cat looks with air sly the sky, in reality he is seeking the help of the cat Francesco, who, even from the bridge, continues undaunted to carry on his "battle" against the mistreatment and exploitation of cats and all other living beings.

A good story, which we like to believe is true or that in any case has some grain of truth.
