Let's start with the size first: a Scottish Fold male is a lot larger than the female, weighing an average of 5-8 kg against her 4-5 kg. In general, they both have a robust and muscular build, but this feature is accentuated in the male specimen.

Apart from the very particular folded ears, from which it takes its name, the head of the Scottish Fold is medium-large and proportionate to the rest of the body, round and massive. The eyes are large, round and set well apart in colors that vary depending on the color of the coat.

Males also have more pronounced and plump cheeks than females, in correspondence with the whiskers.

There are many who believe that the personality of these animals differs based on sex, but in reality it has not yet been proven that this is a determining factor for the character of a cat: however different the behavior of a male cat is different from that of a female, especially when puberty is reached, this difference depends more on physiological factors.
