It would appear that one Japanese research proved that even cats know recognize when their is pronounced first name. A group of Japanese scientists, led by psychologist Atsuko Saito of Sophia University in Tokyo decided to see it clearly, so they conducted the research that seems to have paid off.

Past experiments have revealed that cats are able to interpret human gestures to identify where food is, or recognize their owner by voice, are just some examples that would indicate their ability to know the name by which they are called.

So, to find out if the cats understood what was being said, the scientists subjected seventy-eight of them to a series of experiments. Each animal was played with four words recorded by its human and followed by their name.
