It would appear that one Japanese research proved that even cats know recognize when their is pronounced first name. A group of Japanese scientists, led by psychologist Atsuko Saito of Sophia University in Tokyo decided to see it clearly, so they conducted the research that seems to have paid off.

Past experiments have revealed that cats are able to interpret human gestures to identify where food is, or recognize their owner by voice, are just some examples that would indicate their ability to know the name by which they are called.

So, to find out if the cats understood what was being said, the scientists subjected seventy-eight of them to a series of experiments. Each animal was played with four words recorded by its human and followed by their name.

All the slightest movements of the cat's body were studied with great attention, so that they could represent a clue.

For example, if he pretended nothing happened but moved his ears, head or tail a little, that was proof that something he had perceived.

When his name was then pronounced, the cat gave every time, even for a single moment, the impression of regaining courage.

Of course, not everyone has had the same skill. Cats used to living in "cat cafes", perhaps because they hear their name along with that of others, have struggled to distinguish it.

The results were however encouraging from this point of view. They definitely make cats get a higher score on their intelligence.

They show that even cats can recognize their own name by distinguishing it from other words, regardless of who pronounces it.
