Skatty: the cat who assists a deaf sailor
Skatty: the cat who assists a deaf sailor

The Skatty cat, suffering from polydactyly, assists its deaf owner, plowing the seas of the Atlantic Ocean. Always looking for new adventures.

There is a cat that plows the seas, in the company of his human friend and is always ready to immerse himself in any new adventure that may happen to him. We are talking about Skatty, a very sweet one Main Coon with a rather unique life. But he is also singular himself. In fact it is a polydactyl cat.

With the term polydactyly we go to indicate that genetic mutation that leads to having more fingers than normal. We can find it both in animals and in humans. However, this "malformation" hasn't stopped Skatty's tenacity and the love she has for her owner Paul J. Thompson.

Both have something that makes them unique and above all accomplices. Of Skatty we have already said that it is polydactyl, while of Thompson we must say that it is deaf since he was a child. Computer programmer, he decided to build one small boat, which he then called "La Chica" and embarked from New Zealand (where they reside) to explore the South Atlantic Ocean.

And who if not together with his beloved Skatty? The two are inseparable and support each other.

And how communicate? We know that the relationship between a cat and a human being goes beyond verbal language and Skatty and Thompson are no different.

When Skatty has to communicate something to its owner, such as, for example, the need for food or the approach of some other boat or even if messages have arrived on the phone, rests the paw on his knee.

With that simple gesture Thompson realizes that he has to get up and follows Skatty in the direction indicated!

They have a very popular Instagram page, ditto for the Facebook page, where they can follow their amazing adventures.

They didn't do theirs disability a brake on life and adventure. On the contrary! And we hope they will explore the rest of the world for many years to come.
