Toronto: 300 cats found in an apartment

A staggering number of cats, 300 to be exact, were found in a single Toronto apartment. Thanks to the work of some associations, they have been saved and the doors of adoption are opening up for them.

This story takes place in Canada, to be exact in Toronto, where the Toronto Animal Service was contemplated to solve a very serious problem. On the 18th floor of a building, some residents complained about the smell coming from a nearby apartment. The residents knew that a woman lived there, that he had different cats.

So the Toronto Animal Service contacted the association Toronto Cat Rescue, which is mainly concerned with finding families for cats or cats who have been abandoned or taken from other shelters due to behavioral or socialization problems.

When they opened the apartment door they were speechless. There was a multitude of cats, located in every corner of the house. The volunteers counted 300! A truly impressive number.

Then they found that some cats were lying devoid of life and there were many gestating cats. Some were dehydrated, but overall they found no particular health anomaly in the rest of the cats. Neither parasites or fleas.

The cats therefore enjoyed good health and the association explained this characteristic by declaring that living on the 18th floor of a building, cats never had the opportunity to relate to the outside world and therefore to be able to contract particular diseases.

However, thanks to the help of the numerous volunteers, the cats were rescued. Toronto Cat Rescue took care of about seventy cats, the others were sorted into various associations.

The associations have communicated that they have provided for the sterilization of all cats and many of the gestating cats have given birth to their young.

Now they are taking steps to give one family to each cat, meeting the behavioral and social characteristics of each one.

The owner of these cats was admitted to a specialized center in mental disorders.

The association also stated that it is not the first case they come across. Therefore they recall the importance of neutering cats, as Canadian law regulates that a person or family unit can have a maximum of 6 cats.

By sterilizing cats, you also avoid the randagismor and above all it avoids that many cats end up, at best, forever in a shelter or that they are mistreated or killed by unscrupulous people who want to get rid of unwanted litters.

We hope all of these kittens find a family to take care of them.
