Do you already know why cats love boxes? The cat possesses within itself the natural instinct it gives predator. The boxes then become the cat's favorite places to be able to camouflage and not be seen by the "prey" and, at the best opportunity, snap out and grab it (by prey we mean anything that stimulates its curiosity, even a person's foot!)

The boxes certainly represent a welcoming place for our cat who perceives it as a real " lair". And like any den, it must be considered, by the cat, a place where it can be in total safety.

Yes, the box is perceived by our cat as a place where it can "hide" in moments of stress or if you feel threatened. A study, conducted by the University of Utrech, has in fact shown that especially cats from catteries, are able to acclimatise better to new house and then to the new environment if they have the opportunity to hide in a box. Over time, they then become even more likely to to interact with man.

The boxes are perceived by the cat as safe places to take refuge in situations of hostility or when they want to escape the excessive attention that we humans give them.

Warm assured

You may have noticed that cats are able to "settle" even in very small boxes. This seems to stem from the fact that, especially the packing boxes, they are heat-insulating. The cat therefore fits as close to the box as possible feel warm and therefore avoid a large expenditure of energy to be able to warm up.
