In this article we want to tell you the story of the black cat Pedro.
Pedro is a cat who lived near a nursing home for the elderly in Campobasso, Molise.
He did not live in the structure, since animals were forbidden there, but outside. A girl, who had her father hospitalized in this facility, stopped to caress him and give him some food every time she went to visit him. The day came when the girl's father passed away.
She didn't want to leave that cat there so she decided to take it with her. But he was aware that he could not keep it. So he turned to Apac from Campobasso in order to find him one accommodation adequate and a family that could love and pamper him.
the APAC was willing to accept Pedro and also paid all the necessary expenses. When he was taken to the vet, they found he had a forte jaundice (i.e. a metabolic disorder that leads the cat to have yellow skin and tissues) and a haemolytic anemia (low concentration of hemoglobin in the blood). He risked dying.
A long hospitalization was necessary and even, in order to be able to save him, they opted for a treatment with the chemotherapy drugs. Eventually Pedro managed to survive. And today he is a healthy cat.
Unfortunately now they are months who is waiting for a family to make him forget the bad adventure he had lived through.
The APAC volunteers, who are taking care of him, are quite discouraged and fear that he will not be able to find a family because he is an adult and because he is black. Pedro is about four and a half years old.
Unfortunately, the concept of the black cat that brings bad luck is still very rooted in today's society. We cat lovers know that this is not true, indeed it must be considered a true talisman, a true one lucky charm. You can learn more here black cat
We hope that Pedro will soon find a family who will adopt him, who will make him feel the warmth of having a home.
