Through the following images, we present a rare and very little known cat breed, the Biet's cat. Unfortunately, there is not much information about this breed either Images, this is due to the fact that scientists themselves hardly know this specimen. The little information regarding Biet's cat was collected by the Chinese scientist Liao Yanfa and by teams of researchers belonging to the Xining Zoo who captured 34 specimens between 1973 and 1985.

The first photograph of Biet's cat in its natural environment was taken in 2007 in Sichuan, thanks to some camera traps. Before presenting this particular specimen to you through some images taken in its natural habitat or in captivity in zoos, it is necessary to provide some information about this mysterious breed.

Biet's cat, or Felis Bieti, is a very rare Asian species similar to the wild cat. Biet's cat is also known as Mongolian cat, Monsignor Biet's cat, Gobi cat or China desert cat. The latter name, however, is considered incorrect because this breed does not like deserts, its natural habitats, in fact, are grasslands and wooded areas. Felis Bieti lives mostly in the eastern part of the Tibetan plateau, between 2500 and 5000 m above sea level, also for this reason in English it is known as Chinese Mountain Cat. This particular feline is among the least known on the planet and is considered rare and protected species since the number of existing specimens is estimated around 10,000 adult individuals. For this reason, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has classified it as vulnerable. Throughout the area belonging to China, the Biet cat is protected by laws that prohibit hunting and selling fur.

Biet's cat is a cat with a sturdy build and is endowed with a thick fur whose color can vary between brown and light gray with shaded spots of darker color. Only the front legs, the face and the tail have clear streaks. The ears have dark or red tufts of fur at the ends that measure about 2 cm.
