Aoshima is an island in southern Japan, better known as island of cats. On this tiny island, cats outnumber humans. A few years ago the food service was put on hold due to bad weather conditions. To prevent the cats from running out of food, the island's residents asked help on the Internet.

It was one of the cat guardians who wrote about cat food sent to Aoshima on social networks, as there are no shops to buy food on the island.

People, taking a boat to the mainland to go shopping. However, in winter it is extremely windy and the boat service is often suspended.

A few days after the announcement, numerous donations of packages full of cat food arrived on the island.

The request for help was really effective so much so that they were forced to write again on the internet, but this time to stop donating.

The aid had exceeded expectations. They had achieved much more than they hoped for. The stocks would last until April, so they asked for the suspension of donations.

The keepers of the cats of the island thanked, again via the Web, all those who responded to their appeal and who thus did a good deed for the cats of the island.

Even if it happened a few years ago, this is a beautiful story of solidarity.

We wanted to tell it because it makes us understand how the world of the internet and social media can be used in a positive way, creating a network of mutual help from all over the world.
