The girl portrayed in the photo just below is called Iris. Unfortunately Iris was diagnosed with the disorder autism spectrum, but this did not prevent her from being able to express herself. And what better way to express oneself than through art? Canvases, colors, brushes have become Iris's tools for communicating with the outside world.

But have you noticed a small detail in this photograph?
There is a beautiful Main Coon named Thula always next to her. The name Thula was given to her in honor of Iris's favorite African lullaby, which in the Zulu language means peace, tranquility! And Thula is just like that! She watches over Iris and with her tranquility has managed to make Iris take giant steps.

But let's go in order and tell the story from the beginning.
When Iris's parents were notified of their daughter's autism diagnosis, they researched thoroughly and discovered that an aid to counteract the effects of autism was precisely that of to adopt an animal. At first they thought of having Iris follow the paths of hippotherapy, but Iris did not respond positively to this urge.

They then decided to adopt a cat and that was how Thula entered the family. From the first day she entered the house, Iris seemed to bond very closely with Thula, so much so that she slept next to her all night.

From that day on, things improved dramatically. One of the problems that particularly plagued Iris was the anxiety and being in common and crowded places. Thula has significantly lowered these daily anxieties and allowed her to be more sociable and less shy towards others.

Another hugely notable step was what Iris began little by little to to communicate. Before, when people called her, she only raised her head slightly. A positive fact, since the doctors had explained to the family that in many cases, those with autism cannot even speak.

Then they saw that Iris could communicate a lot through the painting. His paintings are abstract, but the color tones and their sequence are a beauty to the eye. So much so that Iris's parents have decided to put them up for sale. And they got critical acclaim. A true talent.

With the money from the sale of the paintings, Iris's parents pay for her therapies, buy art material for their daughter and tell others about their situation and how it is possible to accept and improve the life of an autistic person. And definitely all benefits that Thula brought to their daughter.

Thula continues to be Iris's life partner, the one who helps her in critical situations and every day Iris takes small steps forward. Thula had not previously been educated to become a therapy cat. She became so by living in constant contact with the little girl. He follows her wherever she goes… even in the bathtub.

Taking a shower and getting dressed was one of Iris's main problems, but thanks to Thula she is able to live these situations more serenely.

We hope that Iris will improve day by day and that her syndrome will never be an obstacle to chasing her. dreams. Thanks to Thula, Iris's life prospects have improved a lot and we hope it will always be like this.

Another example of the unconscious force of animals.
Iris's mother, aware of the great influence that Thula has over her daughter, has published a book that tells of this wonderful story. Here is the link to buy it: A little girl named Iris Grace
