The Thai family, the protagonist of this story, did not expect that the rescue of a kitten would prove to be an incredible discovery.
This family saw a small kitten in the middle of the road. Or at least that seemed to be it. However, he had only been born a few hours ago and so they decided to go to a specialized center. Here they had news that is unbelievable: it was not a simple domestic cat but it was a viverrino cat, more commonly called the fisher cat.
The fisher cat is so called because it has a very particular technique in obtaining the fish of which it is very greedy. In fact, it is placed along the bank or the embankment of a river, gives light paws on the water, which therefore creates ripples, and the fish, believing that they are flies or various insects, rise to the surface.
The cat then, with its paws partially webbed catches them.
These specimens are found mainly in Nepal, Pakistan, Burma, Thailand, southern China, Indochina, Malaysia, India, Sumatra and Java.
Going back to the story, this puppy was surely left behind by his mother who had been found only a few months earlier in a rather shabby rice field. She was rescued and then released.
The puppy being very small was then transferred to the WFFT Wildlife Hospital, where the specialized veterinarians took care of him. They called him Simba.
Thanks to their precious help, they managed to rescue him from certain death. Simba has made extraordinary progress and is now able to fend for himself in an environment suited to his wild nature.
