Charles and Caroline are two cats who, on an adverse day, were taken by their owner to an animal shelter in Athens, Alabama. This choice was made as the owner had to move to another city due to lack of jobs. The Forgotten Felines of Huntsville, Alabama, decided to give him a permanent foster home to overcome the trauma of the detachment.
Foster mom Robyn Anderson took care of it. As the cats were neither neutered nor spayed and living under the same roof, it was inevitable that Caroline became pregnant. Throughout the period of pregnancy Charles, who in the meantime was neutered, remained next to Caroline and cuddled her continuously. Then finally five beautiful kittens were born. All were placed in a large carrier, but as soon as Charles heard the kittens cry, he ran away in fright. That night he only poked his head into the crate a couple of times to smell the kittens and to see Caroline. For the rest of the night he remained at a safe distance.
Robyn tells how Caroline was a wonderful mom right from the start, while Charles was quite wary. Caroline, when she took a break from looking after her kittens, did not give up lying next to Charles. Over the next few days, Charles became less wary of his kittens. Suddenly one day the turning point: Charles licked a kitten a couple of times and from that day he began to give more attention and love to his puppies.
Caroline kept coming out of the crate and lying next to Charles, until she finally agreed to enter the crate with her and her kittens. Since that day they have been united as a big family and Charles is increasingly present in the life of his kittens.
Once weaned, the kittens will be placed in foster care.
