Scooter: the two-legged cat that supports the sick
Scooter: the two-legged cat that supports the sick

This is the story of a kitten, now an adult, who has one special story to tell. Just as he is special.

Some time ago a man picked up a kitten that had been brought to him by his dog. The man immediately took him to Harts Run Veterinary Hospital in Pittsburgh. He believed his dog had injured him. Instead, to his surprise, Dr. Betsy Kennon told him that indeed, it was the dog that saved him, and he showed no signs of violence or bites. Unfortunately, he was paralyzed in his hind legs and was in desperate condition.

The doctor said that many would have opted for euthanasia, given the situation, but she wanted to try to save him. So he took him with him and lovingly cared for him. He renamed it Scooter. He managed to raise $ 300 and get him to build a special one support with wheels that it supported his paralyzed paws and that it wouldn't stop him from exploring the world.

Scooter soon became a cheerful cat with a great desire to live. Today he is inseparable from his support, which has become a loyal companion for his raids.

He has also become a therapy cat. Become a official member of HealthSouth Harmarville Rehabilitation Hospital (Pittsburgh), not a day goes by without sighting among the hospital's patients. And of course its magical support. Above all, he is a frequent visitor to the pediatrics ward.

Dr. Betsy Kennon claims, as well as all the people who got to know and meet him, that Scooter has something special. Only his state of mind, so cheerful and sunny despite the suffering, gives the sick an incredible strength in fighting and not being overcome by despair.

He was also recently named "Cat of the Year" by an association that fights for animal welfare (ASPCA).
