Not much is known about the origins of the Russian Blue (also called Russian Blue), so much so that most of the stories about it seem to belong mostly to the world of legends. Many attribute its origin to the Russian city of Arkhangelsk, while some say it descends from the cats kept by the tsars in the court of St. Petersburg. The Russian Blue is a cat kind, sweet and affectionate. He is also a rather reserved animal, but once he gets comfortable he brings out the more playful and loving side of his personality. However, he will appreciate the idea of sleeping with you and following you in your daily activities at home, and he will not mind being pampered a little while you are sitting on the sofa.

These cats make excellent life companions, loyal (especially to one human in particular) and capable of going agree with everyone, including children. He gets along better with older children who already have experience with pets and who know how not to scare him, but if he grows up with your children or quite friendly dogs, he will easily get along with them.

When guests arrive it is very likely that your Russian Blue will depart, although it is possible that he will decide to interact with them later if he feels that this is acceptable company for him. He never launches into a situation without first observing it carefully, which is why he has earned a reputation as a particularly shy and lonely cat.

It is actually a cat sensitive who does not like to be ignored: he will be upset if he does not receive the same affection he is willing to give. When he does not get attention, he could get overwhelmed by anxiety or fear.

In this regard, the Russian blue is easily frightened and can suddenly become nervous or shy in front of strangers or in environments he is not used to. He doesn't like changes, he expects things to always be a certain way and is taken aback if they change: he demands a clean litter tray or he won't use it, he wants to eat at specific times and if you are delayed he will not hesitate to remind you.

He has a quiet meow that he doesn't use very often, but he will respond to you if you call him and is able to learn the meaning of many words. It's a lot smart and easy to train, and loves to be challenged with new tricks. He is also capable of entertaining himself and will not mind being left alone in the house for most of the day, but will be delighted to see you return.

Contrary to what it may seem from the initial description, it is also a cat who loves to play, especially when retrieving. He also loves jump and climb as high as possible, and it is from there that he likes to observe and study the people in his home and in his environment before deciding whether to approach and get involved in what they are doing. Being an excellent observer, she knows how to open a closet door or access her favorite treats if you leave the package lying around.
