Ocicats are the result of the crossing among Abyssinian, Siamese and American shorthair cats. The first known Ocicat was Tonga, owned by Virginia Daly of Michigan.
The breed was registered in 1966 with the Cat Fanciers' Association and earned championship status in 1987.
Ocicats are very active. They are muscular and athletic cats and they love to play: they like to climb high surfaces, play with their owners and have fun with toys.
