The Yulin Festival is one manifestation Chinese with really terrible characters. It is a real celebration where dog and cat meat is sold.

A celebration that, in addition to the sale of meat from these animals, shows a cruelty anything but human. Because these poor animals are slaughtered and killed in the streets, with no respect for their suffering and, of course, for their life.

The Yulin Festival takes place right in Yulin, In the Guangxi, to celebrate the summer solstice. It lasts 10 days every year, starting from June 21st. 10 days in which many dogs and cats are brutally killed.

Despite the many petitions and demonstrations from animal rights activists around the world, the Yulin Festival still seems untouchable.

Fortunately, if we really want to find a silver lining in this matter, there are people who work for every day to save as many animals as possible from this sad fate.

And Mimi, the cat protagonist of today's story, is one of them. Mimi arrived in Italy some time ago, saved right from the stands of the Yulin Festival.

Davide Acito, a man who has long been involved in rescuing these animals from this terrible celebration, brought Mimi and others 700 cats in our country.

Felines who, therefore, can hope for a better future. Mimì has in fact already found a new one family who wants to take care of her.

According to his savior, Davide Aciti, the situation at the Yulin Festival seems to have improved in recent years.

The sellers seem less and less, as do the animals exhibited to be chosen by the customers.

It must be said, however, that in recent times, there is a prohibition for shopkeepers to show animals outside the shops one week before and one week after the start of the Festival. The Yulin market, in fact, is active all year round.

This ban certainly exists to deceive animal rights activists that fewer and fewer dogs and cats are sold. What is certain is that however this cruel manifestation still exists and that every year thousands of animals suffer this terrible fate.
