Anyone who has cats at home knows very often that they are very greedy and would be willing to eat or at least taste whatever they come across even if it is not exactly suitable food for them. On this topic there are conflicting opinions in circulation, and in this article we will focus in particular on fried oil - it hurts to ours cat or not?

Let's start immediately with an important premise: cats cannot eat the same food we eat, prepared in the same way and with the same ingredients. In addition to being equipped with a digestive system that works in a completely different way from ours, in fact, a cat can turn out extremely sensitive to many foods that we also eat every day.

This sensitivity can lead in the most serious situations to real cases of poisoning, while in others it is limited to causing allergic reactions or stomach problems; at other times it is the prolonged consumption that causes ailments that are very often related to the accumulation of fat in the body.

For example, the latter category includes fried foods: if the breading usually used to fry a food, based on starchy foods and therefore carbohydrates, is not one of the foods that can be easily assimilated by a feline, even the oil used to prepare them can hurt him, depending on the type in which it falls.

The possible presence of salt added, that if it gives us the right extra note of flavor it can do our furry friend terrible. It is therefore good to pay close attention to the type of frying you want to give to a cat, or rather do without it to avoid getting too accustomed to the flavor and making it more averse to its usual meals. But let's go back to the frying oil: how much does it hurt? And why?

In itself, food oil is not poisonous or toxic for cats as it is not for us, on the contrary: small quantities of olive oil consumed raw can help a cat suffering from constipation to eradicate this disorder. It is still a source of fat to which the cat will naturally feel attracted, so it is good to avoid that it takes too much under all circumstances.

Therefore, be careful not to leave pots, pans or fryers containing oil already used for frying (and therefore subjected to high temperature which have changed its composition) and not yet disposed of: your cat may get caught up in the desire to lick or even drink this oil directly, which, unlike raw oil, could cause vomiting and especially diarrhea.
