It is a breed coming from the Scandinavian region from Northern Europe, just as the name suggests and, as we said, the Norwegian Forest cat is large and heavily boned. It has a triangular head, resting on a thick and muscular neck.

The ears they are medium in size and the chin is strong but slightly rounded. The paws hindquarters of the Norwegian are slightly higher than the anterior ones. The legs are very muscular and seem a little too big; the feet they are large and round and have fur between the toes.

The abundance of fur makes the Norwegians even more majestic. Theirs hair is long and often. The fur is layered (which helps protect them from the cold) with the top layer being long, shiny and waterproof. They therefore have an undercoat with a more woolly texture which makes them waterproof.

This type of coat offered natural protection to the breed when it actually lived in the forest. The coat gives a silky feel and its length varies widely with the seasons. The fur on the tail is also long and thick.
