The Toyger cat takes its name from what was the main intent of the creator of this breed, namely to create a "toy tiger": it is in fact a cat with a splendid striped coat just like that of his much more formidable relative, and of a much more meek character suited to domestic life. You can admire it in all its splendor in the Images that we present here.
As we have just mentioned, the Toyger is entirely the result of experiments on multiple breeds of cats operated by humans and in particular by an American breeder named Judy Sudgen.
Sudgen studied in depth the characteristics of some crosses between Bengal and Mackerel Tabby, and among the specimens generated in this way she noticed one with a rather unique brindle coat for a domestic cat.
In fact, it consisted of the same streaks of a tiger, much more marked and particular than those of a common Soriano. Thus was born the idea of developing a breed of real "miniature tigers".
To achieve this purpose, not only were the Tabby and Bengal used, but also specimens imported from abroad that had similar characteristics.
The results were not long in coming but Sudgen's efforts were officially recognized only in 1993, when the Toyger (or Californian Toyger) was registered with TICA.
Although the coat closely resembles the tiger, this is actually the only point it has in common with the Toyger: in fact, this cat has also been "designed" as an excellent pet.
A lover of water and outdoor activities, this cat is also very friendly and affectionate not only towards his family, which obviously has precedence for him, but also towards children, other animals and people he does not yet know well..
He is in fact a versatile type and adapts well to changes and surprises, such as the arrival of a stranger in his home. The Toyger will not react with distrust but with curiosity.
This curiosity can also be observed in his love for the game and above all for exploration, to which he dedicates himself as much as possible during the day.
Many people who love cats decide to imprint an indelible mark on their skin that binds them to their pet. But which ones tattoos on cats are there and what could we do with them? The term Tattoo it was first coined in 1769 by the English Captain James Cook.
