This particular story is told by the man's daughter, Teresa Seals. Her father is an 81 year old man who lives in Claiborne County, In the Tennessee.
The man some time ago suffered a stroke and has had motor difficulties ever since. To keep him company and to help him suffer less, his daughter decided to get him a cat, Shelly.
One night the man woke up hearing noises coming from his home. He fell asleep again shortly after, convinced that it was just his four-legged friend playing in the middle of the night.
But a few days later the truth came out. The man found the body of a lifeless copper-headed snake.
On the body the clear signs of the intervention of his four-legged friend. The snake was in fact full of cuts and a bite on Shelly's head was clearly visible. Probably, without the intervention of our feline hero, the story would have a different ending.
